Each opportunity is unique.
Typically, you will be assigned to a specific hospital, and a specific shift. Your schedule will be determined only after you have been accepted to work a specific crisis response. Work with your recruiter so that they may understand your preferences, and work to place you at an event that is a good fit.
Orientation time commitments will vary (may be a combination of in-person and online) and will typically take place one to three days before the labor disruption begins.
Should the crisis response continue longer than originally anticipated, you may be asked to extend your stay and work more shifts.
CRU48 will arrange and cover the costs of your transportation (if needed) and lodging. You will be assigned a room at a local hotel. (Specific hotel information will be communicated closer to your start date.) You will receive a daily per diem allowance for food and incidentals (NOTE: this may vary be region and circumstances), which will be included as part of your total pay package.
Yes, typically there is a mandatory 12-hour orientation, held one to three days prior to the start of the labor disruption. It may be a mixture of in-person and online learning, and you will be paid. Specific details regarding orientation dates, times and locations are communicated closer to your start date.
Each opportunity is unique and there is no way to guarantee a precise duration. When an actual assignment is pending, we can give you anticipated durations.
If you are working an event and it is extended, we may ask you to extend your contract to stay and help if you can.
If a labor disruption is canceled after you have already traveled, you will get paid the full 60-hours guaranteed at the regular hourly rate (does not include daily allowance for incidentals, only the hourly rate). We will also pay for your hotel, your return flight and your license fees will be reimbursed (if applicable).
No, you cannot pick the hospital – that will be assigned to you. You can request day or night shifts, but there is no guarantee. You must be willing to work either day or night shifts.
You will receive more information about the specific timekeeping system prior to starting your work at an actual event. Most of the timekeeping is done electronically.
You will be required to wear scrubs, preferably navy blue. In most cases if you do not have navy, you may wear a different color as long as they are neat and clean.
Each assignment is different, but typically you will receive a paycheck each week on Friday, which will include your hours worked in the previous week.
